The Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) K0450-70-10 states the “Testing methods for perfluorooctanesulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoate (PFOA) in industrial water and wastewater”. It writes a quantitative analysis of PFOS and PFOA linear isomers, which are some of the most common PFAS (perfluoroalkyl compounds and polyfluoroalkyl compounds)
Its Annex JC provides reference analysis conditions for organic fluoride compounds (PFAS) with different carbon chain numbers.
In this application, RSpak JJ-50 2D, a multimode (reversed phase + anion exchange) column was used to analyze four PFAS compounds. The analytes were dissolved in a mixture of water and methanol (1:1). The analytical condition used was referred to the Annex JC, with slight modifications.
*PFOS and PFOA are also often called “perfluorooctane sulfonic acid” and “perfluorooctanoic acid”, respectively. At Shodex we use perfluorooctane sulfonic acid and perfluorooctanoic acid throughout our website.
