Fucoidan is a water-soluble sulfated polysaccharide with fucose present in brown algae, including Cladosiphon okamuranus and Kjellmaniella crassifolia. According to the regulations advertised by the Japan Health and Nutrition Food Association (JHNFA), fucoidan should be analyzed using OHpak SB-806M HQ, a column for aqueous SEC (GFC), and calibration curve should be made with pullulan standards STANDARD P-82. Furthermore, the peak top molecular weight of fucoidan and the ratio (%) of molecular weight of 10,000 Da or more should be calculated. The peak top molecular weight of the fucoidan used in this application was 41,000 Da, and the proportion of molecular weight of 10,000 Da or more was 94%.
