Furfural and a mix of related acidic and non-acidic impurities are known to inhibit microbial fermentation of lignocellulosic biomass during bio-energy production. In this application, four common furfural and related impurities, a mix of acids and alcohols, were analyzed using the RSpak DE-413, a polymer-based column. To control the peak shape and elution time of acid compounds, an acidic buffer was added.
