Hypromellose (Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose) is an ether of cellulose which is partially hydroxymethylated and hydroxypropylated. Classes of hypromellose differ in their viscosity and substitution degree. Hypromellose is widely used in oral and topical formulations and is used as coating agents, film-forming agents, binders, thickening agents, etc. In this application, hypromellose of two different viscosities were analyzed using OHpak SB-806M HQ, a column for aqueous SEC column.
