Question You have an application on your website using a KD-802 column and THF for the GPC analysis of melamine formaldehyde resins. Would this analysis work with a KD-806M column as well? We have one of those in the lab. If not, which application note is better the one with the KD-802 or another one you have for melamine resins using a methanol/chlororform eluent and an Ashipak GS-310 7G column?     Answer It is possible to use KD-806M for the analysis of melamine formaldehyde with using DMF containing 10mM LiBr as the eluent condition. However, please note that the pore size of KD-806M is bigger than that of KD-802. If it needs to analyze the lower molecular weight of the resin, the separation performance of KD-806M might be not enough, because KD-806M is designed for the larger molecular weight polymer. Please refer to the following page regarding the details of KD-802 and KD-808M. Both of the packing material is styrenedivinylbenzene copolymer. http://www.shodex.com/english/da060302.html And we think KD-800 series is usable for the analysis of melamine formaldehyde resin, if the polymer is dissolved with DMF.     Additional Comments
