ACh/Ch detection

Question First, we would like to test our current mobile phase that we use with our BAS ACh/Ch columns (50 mM sodium phosphate dibasic, 0.5 mM EDTA and 50 microliters Kathon per liter, pH 8.5) with the Shodex columns. From what I read in the operation manual, the Kathon (a biocide) might be problematic for the ACH-494 column, but would the sodium phosphate and EDTA work OK with the columns? If we are better off using Shodex’s suggested mobile phase, the mobile phase in the ACH-494 user manual is a little different than the one listed with the chromatograph shown on Shodex’s website for the choline and acetylcholine application. Which one would you recommend? How often do you recommend that the mobile phase be changed?     Answer For the ACH column, the pH of the mobile phase will be more important than the type of the solvent. Since this will control the conversion of choline to peroxide. As long as the solvent pH is ~8.3, you may use any salt. Please try the one that is more convenient for you.     Additional Comments
