Question
My boss, John Burchell, passed on your contact information. We have a customer interested in your CD-200 detector for work with our Prep HPLC (flow rates as high as 100mL/min, but most likely 50mL/min and below). What is the maximum flow rate that the CD-200 can handle? If it cannot handle those flow rates, is there a prep version or do you have any suggestions?

Thanks,
DJ

Answer
Thank you for your patience. It is currently a very busy time in Japan, and their response was delayed.

Our technical support has suggested the maximum recommended flow rate is 1.5 mL/min for the CD-200 detector. He says theoretically the detector cell will not be broken at the flow rate of 50 mL/min, but he does not recommend it.

He suggests diverting the solution at the flow rate of 1.5 mL/min from the preparative HPLC to the detector.

In conclusion, I do not think the detector should be used with a prep HPLC application unless the tubing is rerouted to accommodate a smaller flow rate. Thank you for your patience.
