Question
I am searching for a column which can determine the molecular weight of “anionic water soluble polymer”. The column must allow a range of 100-1 000 000, but most of my customer’s polymers have molecular weight between 2000 and 40 000. The column should be stable between pH 3-11 and compatible/inert with different types of polymers. They also need good resolution for oligomer of 200-500 molecular weight.

My customer currently use 3 Waters columns (300 x 7.8mm) in series (ultrahydrogel 120A 6um, 250A 6um and 1000A 12um) with sodium polystyrene sulfonate standard. The mobile phase is a 80:20 ratio of 0.1M NaNO3:CAN.

Answer
we will recommend SB series. The equivalents will be SB-802, 803, and 804. They can use the current mobile with SB columns. Do you know if they are having any problem with waters columns?
