Question
We have a customers who would like to buy all consumables from one source and we are trying to convert them from Dionex columns to Shodex.
They are looking at the growth of plants in different environments and want to monitor the nutrient uptake (or lack thereof) for these ions. The samples are greenhouse run-off and soil extracts. The samples have some grit in them and this needs to be filtered out.
They are already doing this application and knows the Dionex columns referenced work very well but they would like to only purchase from one supplier so we are looking for equivalents.
The columns they are currently using are:
DIONEX — Cations: IonPac CS12A 4x250mm Product # 046073
DIONEX — Anions: IonPac AS9-SC 4×250 mm Product # 043185

Answer
For cation analysis: YS-50

Similar to the method used by CS12A. The column is suitable for both suppressor and non-suppressor methods.
By using suppressor mode, the sensitivity should be improved.

For anion analysis: SI-90 4E can provide good separation for mentioned anions.
