The researcher recommended to place RI after MALLS (i.e, Injector -> column -> MALLS -> RI). It is best to keep the connecting tube short. Also she mentioned that it is not a good idea to use a splitter. Because it will lower the sensitivity. So if you are worried about breaking either detector, maybe it is good to have pressure controller/monitor.
