SEC Columns for Peptide Dendrimers (3–40 kDa Range)

Record: 730

Category: Column Selection
Product: KW-800
Sample: Peptide Dendrimer

Question
I’m currently looking for size exclusion columns (analytical and semiprep scale) to separate peptide dendrimers in the 3–40 kDa range. They should be compatible with a standard HPLC system (flow 0.5–2.0 mL/min, 214 nm detection).
Can you recommend a suitable column?

Answer
For peptide dendrimers between 3–40 kDa, the Shodex KW-802.5 is the most suitable column.
It provides high-resolution separation for 5–100 kDa peptides and proteins and is fully compatible with standard HPLC systems and UV detection at 214 nm. Because peptide dendrimers are branched macromolecules, their hydrodynamic size is often larger than their nominal molecular weight.

If your dendrimers are highly branched or tend to form aggregates, the KW-803 (10–700 kDa range) may provide better peak shape and retention control.

Example application:
Standard Proteins (1) – KW-802.5
This application demonstrates the separation of standard proteins in the 5–100 kDa range under aqueous SEC conditions, confirming suitability for peptide dendrimer analysis.
