SEC Column Recommendation for PLGA Using Alternative Organic Solvents

Record: 508

Category: Column Selection
Product: GF-510 HQ
Sample: PLGA

Question

A customer would like to analyze PLGA around 72 kDa and evaluate separation of the polymer from BHT and a drug using SEC. They prefer acetonitrile instead of THF. Which Shodex column is recommended?

Answer

Asahipak GF-510 HQ can be evaluated as a multisolvent SEC/GPC column for this application.

Because the customer cannot use THF, solvent compatibility and sample solubility should be confirmed before analysis. The suitability of acetonitrile will depend on the PLGA, drug, and other sample components.

For molecular weight calibration, PMMA standards such as Shodex STANDARD M-75 may be considered when they are compatible with the selected solvent system, particularly when polystyrene standards are not soluble.

Contact us at support@shodexhplc.com with additional application details so we can recommend the most suitable column, solvent, and calibration standard.

Recommended Application:

This application demonstrates the use of GF-HQ columns, including GF-510 HQ, in organic-solvent SEC/GPC with columns connected in series.
