Use of chlorine salt is not preferred, not for the gels, but for the column housing.
Also, recommended salt concentration is 0.1-0.3 M, but this is just a suggestion so if you think 0.5 M is better for your analysis, it should be okay.
Please make sure to rinse the column without salt/buffer before stopping the pump.

It is depending on the sample, but we have observed that sometimes KW column require pretreatment.
If you see change in retention time (usually shortening of retention volume) of your sample in the beginning, it suggests that the surface of the gel may need the “coating”. In this case, we generally suggest to inject BSA for multiple times (you do not need to wait the whole run to finish, just inject BSA every 5 min x ~5 times or so).

For everyday use, you may just use water.
If you were to store the column for more than 3 weeks, I would recommend you to use 20% Methanol as storing solvent.
