Question
Is the packing material responsible for the analysis failure?

Answer
We think the preparation of the sample and the column temperature are the reasons for the less than desired separation. We do not think the packing material is at fault.

According to the chromatograms, the eluent is water; and according to your previous emails the samples are dissolved in 20% ethanol. We recommend preparing the sample in the eluent (water) for the best separation. In the chromatograms the ethanol peak overwhelms the other peaks and contributes to the broadening of the peaks.

The recommended operating temperature for the column is 50-85 C. The higher temperature will cause the sugar anomer peaks to coalesce into one sharp peak. We suggest using the higher range of temperature to sharpen the peaks.

In this case, we do not think the packing material is at fault and we cannot meet the request for a replacement. If you would like to have the customer contact me for additional technical support I would be happy to help improve the separation.
