Question
Best SB column for the analysis of proteins in the MW range 100k-800k Da. Separation of 3-4 proteins, MW differences of x2 times each..

Answer
Are/were you using KW-403 for your protein separation ? During the conversation, somehow I was thinking that you have a KW-404…

If you are planning to analyze the same set of proteins, KW-403 and SB-403 have the same pore sizes, thus SB-403 will be a best comparison to KW-403. The estimated exclusion limit (this may vary with type of proteins and analytical conditions e.g., salt conc.) for KW/SB-403 is 600kDa (protein), so if you were to analyze proteins with 800kDa, it might require to use SB-404.

Sometimes, when it is required to separate proteins/peptide with similar MW, we recommend our GS/GF columns. They are polymer (polyvinyl alcohol) based multi-mode columns. The main separation mode is still size exclusion, but also has adsorption and ion-exchange features depending on the eluent conditions. I am attaching a pdf file showing the examples of them for protein analysis for your information.
