Which Shodex columns are suitable for paraquat and diquat analysis, and what are the detection limits?

Answer

Shodex offers several options for paraquat and diquat analysis, depending on the detection method and sensitivity requirements:

• ES-502C 7C (cation exchange): Suitable for paraquat and diquat analysis by UV detection. Under typical conditions, compounds are detectable at ~100 ppb.

• LC/MS compatibility: When using LC/MS, lower detection limits (as low as 1 ppb) may be achieved.

• Alternative options: The RSpak NN-814 column has also been successfully used with LC/MS. Typical conditions include acetonitrile with 5 mM ammonium acetate in a 1:1 isocratic ratio.

Application Note: Paraquat and Diquat Analysis – Shodex Application. 

For routine analysis by UV, ES-502C 7C is recommended. For ultra-trace detection, LC/MS with NN-814 columns is a suitable alternative.
