Question
In keeping with the theme of my IC analysis, when I arrived into the lab this morning I noticed my baseline was very noisy and my pressure had increased from about 725PSI to about 760PSI while only running mobile phase all weekend. I was able to get my pressure back to normal and the baseline stabilized by fixing some fittings in the column oven, but now when I run samples I’m getting no peaks. Is it possible that my suppressor solution is used up? Friday everything seemed to be perfect. Any thoughts?

Answer
I am sorry; I do not know enough information about suppressors to give a valuable solution.

However, usually when the experiment is run and no peaks are observed it is equated to system trouble and more specifically deactivation of the detector.

I suggest reading the operation manual for the suppressor to see if there is any advice. I can also ask to our tech support in Japan; however their advice may mimic my advice.
