The company Akzo Nobel is asking some technical information about the C18M. Shodex column

They are trying to use Shodex columns and would like to know the life time , I understand this question is difficult to answer because we have to considered a couple of details .
H e will use the column this way :

Per sample (total 80 samples) , 45 minutes each giving a total of 60 hrs .
40 samples of 74 mins/ per sample = 49 hrs , per month 109 hrs

The sample is 213 mg of Benzoyl Peroxide diluted in 50 ACN ,The solutions used is just one liter of HPLC water , is added 1 ml of Ac. Acetic and a liter of HPLC acetonitrile is added 1 ml of Ac. Acetic acid and the other solution is 500 ml of water, 500 ml of acetonitrile and 1 Ac. Acetic, all these solutions have a pH of about 3.5.

THE QUESTION IS : do you think the C18M column will last around ~?

I’m sorry to say, but even if we have sample/mobile details, we can never answer this type of question.
In very limited cases – I think ODP2 and NH2P-50 4E, we have some repeated-injection test results. But other than that we don’t.

The column life depends on the way it is operated -how frequently the system is cleaned, temperature, the way operator use it also influence, e.g. how they start/stop the pump, quality of solvent also influences the columns life. So, sorry but we cannot guarantee anything about the column life. I don’t think other column manufacture can tell this either.
