A customer is looking for a USP L21 column (7.8 mm × 300 mm, 5 µm) for organochlorine or organophosphorus compound analysis. Does Shodex offer an equivalent column in this size?

Answer
Shodex offers several USP L21-compliant columns, but not in the 7.8 mm × 300 mm, 5 µm size.

The following Shodex series are officially listed in the catalog as fulfilling USP-NF L21 requirements:

• KF-800 Series – Organic SEC (GPC) columns for use in THF

• KD-800 Series – For DMF and other polar organic solvents

• LF-800 Series – Linear calibration type for molecular-weight calibration in THF

• KF-400 HQ / HK-400 Series – High-performance and semi-micro versions

All are silica-free styrene–divinylbenzene (S-DVB) polymer columns suitable for organic-solvent SEC and recognized as USP L21 stationary phases.

However, only 8.0 × 300 mm (analytical) and 4.6 × 150 mm (semi-micro) formats are available. Shodex does not produce a 7.8 × 300 mm version.
