Question
I am preparing to make standards for analysis of Acetic, Butyric, and Propionic Acids in the range of 1 to 150 mM concentration. I intend to adjust the pH of the standards to pH = 8 for storage with NaOH. I plan to use an injection volume between 30 and 50 ul. The eluent will be 0.1% phosphoric acid. It appears from your website that the column should work well up to 50 ul but will it be okay at this pH?

Answer
Is there any particular reason that you’d like to adjust the sample pH=8?
We recommend you to prepare the standards in the mobile phase for the best separation performance.
When the composition of the sample and the mobile phase is largely different, you may observe non-symmetrical peaks as well as large solvent peak.
The packed gel is a polymer, thus it will not be easily damaged by the small amount of pH=8 sample, but for above reason, I would recommend preparing the sample in 0.1% phosphoric acid.
